Melissa J. Copley, Managing Partner in Mohr Partners’ Downtown Chicago Office, Appointed President of the Realty Club of Chicago

CHICAGO, IL — (January 24, 2014) — Mohr Partners, is pleased to announce that Melissa J. Copley, Managing Partner of Mohr’s downtown Chicago office and leader of Mohr’s law firm practice, has been elected as President of The Realty Club of Chicago.
The Realty Club of Chicago was founded in 1910 and its members are some of the most well-respected and iconic professionals in the commercial real estate industry. “Open sessions” and formal presentations are held on a weekly basis to Club members who comprise an experienced and diverse group of real estate developers, architects, attorneys, economists, brokers, appraisers, bankers, property owners and other professionals of the real estate industry. To maintain and enhance member discussions, collegiality and relationship building, membership in the Club is limited. Recent speakers include Danial G. Sullivan, Director of Research and Executive Vice President at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, who spoke on Economic Outlook and Monetary Policy.
Ms. Copley has 26 years of experience in managing strategic relationships, providing portfolio planning, negotiating large complex transactions and working with AmLaw 100 law firms. Previously, she was President of Copley Advisors, a tenant advisory firm providing strategic tenant representation services to a wide range of sophisticated companies and law firms. Prior to that, she was an International Director at Jones Lang LaSalle, where she was Team Leader and Managing Director of the firm’s largest Tenant Representation Team, which closed over 20 million square feet in real estate transactions, the largest of which were led by Ms. Copley. Ms. Copley also served as Chairman of JLL’s Global Law Firm Practice.
Ms. Copley is a past Chairman of Attorneys and Executives in Corporate Real Estate (AECRE) and has spoken at several AECRE national conferences and the AECRE Fall Forum. Additionally, Ms. Copley has been a regular speaker at the Chicago Commercial Real Estate Forecast Conference. She has taught Negotiations at CoreNet Global and Real Estate Finance at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Ms. Copley is a founding member of Executive Women in Corporate Real Estate, a selective organization of female real estate executives of some of the world’s largest real estate service companies and corporations, including American Express, Ford, GM, Microsoft and others. Ms. Copley worked in venture capital and banking prior to real estate. She holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from The Kellogg School of Northwestern University and a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan.
